“Avakareta Life” – UnderCover by Jun Takahashi A/W 2010 Men’s Collection.
I’m not sure what the name of Jun Takahashi’s autumn/winter 2010 men’s collection for high-end streetwear brand UnderCover is supposed to mean (Avakareta?), but all I know is I really like everything in the collection. It’s just the perfect balance between style, comfort, with nothing over-the-top and flashy. Very solid collection.
Here’s a pretty sweet 40 second trailer for the BBC Sport’s coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. (I hope the Brits don’t get misled to believe Vancouver is actually overrun by wolves… or snow, for that matter.)
Adam Kimmel’s A/W 2010 ‘Casino’ collection was inspired by the work of American artist and gambling man, George Condo. Taking characters from Condo’s paintings as the template for his models – with masks from Hollywood prosthetics whiz, Gabe Bartalos – the velvet suit and blazer-clad figures surrounded a craps table to create a casino-inspired scene, within a blacked-out room in Paris’ Yvon Lambert Gallery.
Guests were led into the final show via the gallery entrance hall, where live security camera films of the ‘Casino’ were projected; followed by a white-cube room – sparsely displaying a series of Kimmel’s trademark lookbook images – before ending up in the velvet roped-off main event, at the heart of the gallery.
Free urban zipline during Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
As a downtown Vancouver resident, I am a little apprehensive about the Olympics coming up in a couple of weeks and basically taking over the downtown core. However, there is no denying that there will be some pretty crazy events going on in our usually quiet little city.
One of those events: free urban zipline across Robson Street, provided by Ziptrek Ecotours.
Come and be dazzled at Ziptrek’s latest venture. Perched above the law courts at Robson Square, guests will be provided the opportunity to zip over 170 metres (550′) across Robson Street. Guests will zip high above the crowds an exhilarating six stories over Vancouver’s iconic downtown core!
This unique endeavor will provide visitors the opportunity to experience the thrill and exhilaration of ziplining – brought to prominence in North America by Ziptrek’s flagship operation in Whistler. Switching the traditional backdrop of old growth forest, to cityscape, should prove to be an amazing and rare experience. Not to mention the fact it will be taking place at one of the key hubs of Olympic activity! Be sure to come and check out this exclusive attraction. Only during the Olympics, and Free!
Sounds nuts! I’ll definitely line up for this one. (If only downtown residents were given a free fast-pass to skip the line…) The zipline will be open from February 12th until the 28th, from 10:00am – 9:00pm. Mark your calendars, folks!
In what may perhaps be the sweetest peacoat ever graced upon mankind, Head Porter Plus came out with this heavy deluxe peacoat with “the nicest lining around” (so says Wood Wood). The coat features leather reinforcement by the front pockets and embossed buttons.
It’s being sold on Wood Wood for 520 EUR — though, unfortunately for us little people, they only have L and XL (Japanese sizing) available at the moment. If only they had it in a medium, I would not have hesitated to buy it. I mentioned the coat has the nicest lining around, right?
