“Avakareta Life” – UnderCover by Jun Takahashi A/W 2010 Men’s Collection.
I’m not sure what the name of Jun Takahashi’s autumn/winter 2010 men’s collection for high-end streetwear brand UnderCover is supposed to mean (Avakareta?), but all I know is I really like everything in the collection. It’s just the perfect balance between style, comfort, with nothing over-the-top and flashy. Very solid collection.
Directed by McG and produced by pop artist Takashi Murakami, the music video – while completely and mind-bogglingly insane – does at least give a good look at Tokyo street fashion. There’s even a cameo by Japanese streetwear godfather, Nigo.
Still…. I am at a loss for words. Akihabara Majokko Princess (majokko = magic girl), everyone. Take it for what it is. Whatever it is.
My apologies for neglecting the blog for a few days. I suppose I didn’t mention that I was to go on an extended weekend getaway to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. Jasper’s a beautiful little town, no doubt, but to be honest, I was disappointed that the weather was actually not so different from Vancouver this winter. (Translation: No snow.) Still, I had a good time ice skating on a frozen Lake Beauvert, swimming in the Fairmont’s heated outdoor pool, and hiking around Jasper Park Lodge.
In other news: I want need this denim vest. Not much fashion-wise has caught my eye lately (which explains the lack of fashion-related updates), but I came across this guy’s denim vest and was very, very impressed. Love everything about it. Nice to finally come across new and inspiring streetwear!
Because life could not get any sweeter as when you have a sick high neck cardigan, Journal Standard deserves a Nobel Prize for their take on the elusive beast. I heard they’re giving those Nobel things out freely now.
