Alright, I realize we’re only just beginning the third month of 2010, but I’m calling it early: OK Go’s video for This Too Shall Pass is the year’s best music video.
Directed by James Frost, OK Go and Syyn Labs. Produced by Shirley Moyers. The official video for the recorded version of “This Too Shall Pass” off of the album Of the Blue Colour of the Sky. The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs over the course of several months.
How crazy would the pressure be for the band to not screw up during this single-take video?! Amazing.
Directed by McG and produced by pop artist Takashi Murakami, the music video – while completely and mind-bogglingly insane – does at least give a good look at Tokyo street fashion. There’s even a cameo by Japanese streetwear godfather, Nigo.
Still…. I am at a loss for words. Akihabara Majokko Princess (majokko = magic girl), everyone. Take it for what it is. Whatever it is.
The four covers feature one of each the contributors and a double pager with all three. Great experience with this and I’ve never heard my work associated with the word DOPE so many times in my life. Having the time of my life. I’m glad my wife understands. Special thanks to AD Alex Haldi over at IDJ and the Sundance Kid aka Tim Townsend. Maybe more in the works with this project. Album due in March. I’ll be in touch.
The album drops on March 9th. Should be good. Bachalo’s album artwork is just icing on the cake.

This is straight-up awesome. What do you get when you mix a Japanese Ukelele Duo (!) with a crocheted bear (Kumano 900) and bunny (Usagino U)? U900’s adorable stop-motion animated music videos.
Be sure to also check out U900’s Myspace page to see more of their videos. So. F’ing. Cute.
Vintage rhythm and blues by potent young artists. India.Arie’s Grammy-winning R & B, which recalls such soul masters as Roberta Flack and Stevie Wonder, makes “faith, goodness and positive thinking seductive,” according to The New York Times. Raphael Saadiq is a throwback, a retro-soul practitioner who has mined a rich vein of old-school R & B and Motown cool since his days with 80s hit-makers Tony! Toni! Toné!
Tickets are already on sale at Tickets.com, starting at $42.50. The concert will be held at the Orpheum Theatre, and starts 8pm on Saturday, March 20th. This is going to be such a sick, sick, sick show. I am so excited.
Videos of both India.Arie and Raphael Saadiq after the jump. Don’t sleep!!
