Emma Watson for Burberry Spring 2010 ad campaign.

Emma Watson is back to represent Burberry again – this time with her brother, Alex.

I’m not sure how to feel about this ad campaign. On one hand, we’re all well-aware that the fashion industry favours the young and the beautiful… However, on the other hand, these kids look like, well, kids playing dress-up in adult clothes.

Maybe I’m just getting old and feeling a little creeped out by the fact that these young people are actually working it. Still, the jaded part of me wonders why a high-end luxury brand would choose models with such a low-income youth appeal? I mean, as inundated as we are by rich and beautiful teenagers on The Hills, Gossip Girl, and 90210, does Burberry really think the teenage Harry Potter crowd can afford to buy their stuff? Or, likewise, can grown adults who’ve been long-time Burberry trench rockers really identify with an ad campaign featuring such young looking models?

Sure, young models have always, always, always been the kings and queens of the fashion world, and this is no different. I’m just disturbed because, in some of these shots, I swear some of the male models look like they’re 13 years old.

Anyway, more photos from the ad campaign after the jump. What do you think of it?

Waving Goodbye to 2009.

It’s that time of year again. 2009 is on its final stretch, so that means 09 recap-a-thon.

Whirled Interactive, however, manages to do things a little differently by literally Waving (get it?! ha!) goodbye to 2009 using Google Wave. Nice use of current technology to show some of the year’s highs and lows. It’s even as current as the untimely death of Brittany Murphy.

I hope watching this video makes people want to use Google Wave more. It’s great having an account there, but it’s kind of pointless if nobody is using it or nobody knows how to use it.

Quentin Tarantino x Softbank.

Japanese mobile provider Softbank ads continue with their ridiculous take on Japanese family life – this time, with Quentin Tarantino.

Julie in Japan describes the series of ads quite well:

In the ads, the father is a white dog, the mother is a Japanese woman, the daughter is a famous Japanese pop star and the brother is an African-American man. The ads are funny because the father is really strict but he’s a dog, so he’s adorable. The family doesn’t make any sense to look at, but they act like a regular, typical Japanese family and that’s why it’s funny.

AdFreak posted up a rough English translation of the Tarantino ad if you’re wondering what’s going on.

I personally think these ads are so bizarre that they’re genius.

Karl Lagerfeld x Olsen Twins tshirt.

Lagerfeld x Olsen <3

Three of the most ridiculous and fashionable personalities of the current time – Karl Lagerfeld, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen – all on one graphic t-shirt?

I’ll take it in a medium, please.
