Photographed by Mari Sarai, Raf Simons’s collection for Fred Perry Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 is captured ingeniously. The black and white, grainy treatment is obviously very dramatic, but also makes the images a little chilling. Definitely an eye grabber.
I have more respect for people who may not be inherently skilled or intelligent but are continually learning and growing, than those who may be naturally gifted but act like snooty bitches.
So here’s to all those who are pursuing post-secondary education, continuing education, private lessons, or even self-learning. Those are the people who make the world a better place.
Not much to say about this collection. I liked some of the pieces here, but for the most part, it just seemed to me to be the usual Dolce & Gabbana flair. (Take that as you will.) Didn’t particularly like the overly-ripped jeans, though. It was like a very ridiculous throwback to the early/mid-90’s.
Final note: What’s up with male models? Most of these guys’ walks looked so stiff and robotic. Made them look constipated at times. Is there a Miss J for male models?
The art installations will question the ‘natural’ environments created at zoos — environments untouched by man. Very thought-provoking and bound to engage young minds in the discussion of how man has affected the natural world and its effects on the animal kingdom.
Some of the brilliant installations include a car half-submerged in a rhino’s watering hole, penguins’ shelter with an oil pump in the background, and alligators sharing their faux-bayou space with a bathtub and a monster truck tire.
Tim Burton is taking Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice in Wonderland, and re-imagining it for a live-action/CG animation/motion capture blend. Featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. This is going to be one brilliantly amazing film.
Alice in Wonderland comes out March 5, 2010. Mark your calendars. In the meantime, check out some concept art for the film.
